A mystery
What made my night: Billy Boyd singing Brittany Speare’s “Hit Me Baby One More Time”…what an amazing voice.2004-03-05 : 12:34 a.m. The secular world of acting is a place filled with loneliness. The actors themselves are people dissatisfied with their lives as a whole, so they turn to pretending professionally. What first was just telling a story turns into vicarious living. The actor builds a barrier around himself of theatre friends and lifestyles. The troupe knows the manifold manic masks that their fellow actors wear on and off stage. There is no life outside the theatre. After all, the only way anyone exits is either to have the curtains closed, to die or to be chased by a bear. Relationship intricacies abound behind the stage and everybody knows everyone else’s problems. So when the curtain closes for the last time and the lights are dismantled and the sincere, “We’ll stay in touch,” calls are made upon leaving the cast party…that’s it. A lifetime held in a few months is over. They try to recreate it all again, but the curtain never closes the same, the lights will never hang the same, most of the sincere friends are lost and only a few kept. Even so, it’s not the same. But actors keep coming back, hoping the reincarnation will be more fulfilling than the last time, that this show will fill their aching void, that everything will be the same and wonderful again. And it’s not. It’s a mystery. Random thought: When I was washing my dishes earlier today I looked out the window and saw a large, stray black retriever looking dog. He reminded me so much of Ned from "Castaways of the Flying Dutchman" that I was almost compelled to go outside and approach him. However fear stray huge dogs and the fact that I was still in my p.j.'s prevented me. All the same, it was a wonderfully amazing site. Until he peed on the street sign. Oh well. I had to do this again, it's not fair when they ask an artist, "What's your favorite color?" And I love all the answers :D Niiiiiiice. And this is just funny:
