Fake Guitar

A long time ago, about four years now, I was with Maeve Ahern in the Lifehouse hanging out. We found this cheap fake guitar that was a plastic red and a small bongo set. Sitting down with nothing better to do we made up a song called "Strummin' on my Fake Guitar". It was slightly catchy and more than annoying since it stuck in your head for a few days. It also only had a refrain and one verse.

The other day in work I was deathly bored, so I got out the old writing notebook and accidentally began writing verses. Now I want to change the tune of the refrain--which is the original song stuck together.

Here's what came out of my brain:

Fake Guitar

Rhyming songs are childish
when they are spoken aloud
But when put to music
the words speak to the crowd

Raise your fires, my lemmings
Cover your eyes with your hands
So you can hear more clearly
All the other lemming bands

Refrain sung simultaneously
Feelin like no one's ever around
Strummin on my fake guitar

Feelin you're not hearin a sound
I'm just strummin on my fake guitar

We must listen beyond our ears
Strummin on my fake guitar

Cause this music will bring you to tears
Just strummin on my fake guitaaaaar

We'll tell you stories like bards
of jumping ship and tattoos
Not to mention hate and war
and every love you will lose

Your lighter fluid burns out
We're pumping through your headphones
Turn the volume up
So you'll never feel alone

Refrain x2
