Shoot the turkey, leave a message
"So it begins."2003-11-26 : 10:37 p.m. The orcs are standing at the ready, about to devour whatever comes out of this stronghold. We're outnumbered. "The red dawn rises." I held in my hands the largest paycheck I've gotten this year. Everything except ten dollars is going to bills to help keep the family in our house, to help us eat, to help us stay warm. During the commercialist "holiday season" we all become Christmas-ites. From heated houses stock full with unnessecary goodies, people watch movies such as, "It's a Wonderful Life," and read stories like, "The Little Matchstick Girl," and, "The Gift of the Magi," and, "A Christmas Carol," from their fake fire places. They get all gooey inside and say to themselves, "Gee golly wiz, if I were poor, I'd be hopeful like these people." In the past hour I've floated around different livejournals filled with joyous overfed Americans who are about to celebrate gluttony tomorrow. They aren't worried about where the food is going to come from, if there will be food the day after, how much water is used to wash the dishes you used to make the feast and how it will affect the water bill next month. No. They joyfully aspire to be thankful on Thanksgiving, they celebrate stolen holy days from both Jews and Christians as times of getting what they want. Thanksgiving is about the football game, Aunt Susie's apple pie, and whether or not they really have to put up with Grandpa's story about Thanksgiving in Kansas (when it was the depression and they didn't have much to eat but were greatful for it). Well I'm greatfully aware of the turkey in our fridge and the fact that we still have a half gallon of milk sitting above it and if I stretch out my gluttonous American instincts for a few days I might be able to save a few crackers and lose a few pounds. Happy holidays, rich folks. I'll keep my holy days. "The sun is rising. " "Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn look to the East." God, I'm looking to the East. Show me a dawn that is not red.
